Nancy's Story

Nancy has always been known as someone with a flair for decorating, and she would often be called upon by friends or family to help prepare for their special occasions. In the fall of 2000, Nancy provided flowers and decorations as a gift to a friend who was getting married.

After the meal, the bride stood to give her speech in which she thanked all who contributed in some way to making the day special. When she thanked Nancy for the flowers and decorations, 200 guests spontaneously rose to an enthusiastic standing ovation. That’s when  she decided to pursue this business.

Although she is trained as a lawyer, Nancy found that profession to be unsatisfying and pursued it intermittently, then not at all. She has always been drawn towards more creative fields and has, at various times, worn the hats of actress, designer, chef, event coordinator, writer, and craftsperson!

Today, Nancy teaches law part time and devotes the rest of her time to doing the things she loves.

 

    Nancy says: "I absolutely love this work because I never get bored with it. It draws together so many of my passions - gardening, floral design, sewing, crafts – and every event is a chance to create something new. My experience in theatre has taught me a lot about set design and the art of illusion. This is invaluable when it comes to decorating. After all, theatre is about fantasy, and a wedding is about fantasy coming true. I love helping a bride create the perfect setting for the unfolding of her own fairy tale."
